ACCGS Merges with SPACE

June 24, 2005

The Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield, Inc. (ACCGS) announce the addition of a Division of Business Excellence following a merger with the Springfield Area Council for Excellence (SPACE). SPACE, the Division of Business Excellence will bring Lean Enterprise and Continuous Improvement ideas and methodologies to nearly 2,000 Affiliated Chamber members of every size and industry.

This consolidation of Business Excellence resources will give Chamber members access to SPACE programs that include the annual Pioneer Valley Business Excellence Award Program, Educational Learning Events, Kaizen facilitation and a range of Lean Enterprise services.

"The merger is a win-win partnership for SPACE and the Affiliated Chambers," says Donald Kozera, chairman, SPACE board of directors. "SPACE, the Division of Business Excellence continues an eleven year commitment and tradition of business excellence, and expands the benefits and outreach of the Chamber."

"The new SPACE Business Excellence Division is a definite benefit to our member business community," says Russell F. Denver, president, ACCGS. "Businesses are always looking to improve processes and productivity, and the tools and resources SPACE offers are exceptional means to succeed."

SPACE, the Division of Business Excellence will remain in its current office housed in the ACCGS suite of business offices at 1441 Main Street, Suite 136, Springfield. The organization's phone number: (413) 755-1300 and current online address: www.spaceforexcellence.org will also remain the same.

The ACCGS is a business association comprised of seven independent Chambers of Commerce and a Women's Partnership, serving nine cities and towns and nearly 2,000 businesses of all sizes, industry and profession.

SPACE, a not-for-profit, was established in 1992 by a group of forward thinking business leaders who shared common concerns and interest in helping Pioneer Valley organizations succeed in regional and worldwide marketplaces.
